From Sea World’s dolphin pools to hosting an international travel show, David Whitehill is one of Australia’s most unique and entertaining television presenters. With broad experience across wildlife, travel and entertainment, not to mention his laidback charm and good looks, this passionate television talent is certainly making waves!

Australia was first introduced to David Whitehill in 2002 when he was crowned Cleo Magazine Bachelor of the Year, beating the likes of Kyle Sandilands and Brett Lee to the coveted crown. The blonde, blue-eyed surfer, and Sea World Dolphin Trainer, was quickly snapped up by the Nine Network to work on their flagship national children’s program ‘Hot Source’.

David completed 400 episodes of kid’s TV, collecting a swag of young fans along the way, but he wasn’t ready to stop there. In between filming episodes of ‘Hot Source’, David pursued his love of the outdoors as a presenter on ‘Queensland Escapes’, where he travelled, sky and scuba-dived his way through some of Queensland’s most alluring territory.

Next stop, host of the hugely successful and nationally broadcast music show ‘So Fresh’. David reviewed clips and albums from around the globe whilst interviewing many of the famous featured artists. For an impressive three years, he brought the music world to Australian audiences and interviewed international music superstars at the Arias, Teen Choice Awards and MTV Music Awards

Hosting Foxtel’s international travel series “Escape”, where he travelled to 13 different countries in the first series alone, gave David the perfect world experience and that special element of international appeal.

David’s charm also hooked fellow Queensland celebrity Kerri Anne Kennerly. In 2004, he became a regular and favoured face on her morning show, crossing live and presenting feature stories for ‘Mornings with Kerri Anne’. Covering a wide range of topics, this role gave him vast experience in live broadcast. David also travelled internationally with the program, filming lifestyle and adventure stories, and in 2007 he co-hosted the program with Kerri Anne while travelling through Europe.

In 2005 David got his first taste of Celebrity Reality TV as part of the celebrity line up for Channel Nine’s ‘Skating on Thin Ice’.  Working alongside Jamie Durie, Imogen Bailey, and Deni Hines, the celebs put their bodies on the line and skated their way to a nationally broadcast performance with world-renowned Disney on Ice. David and the cast became the first amateur skaters allowed to skate on ‘Disney Ice’. They may be the last!

David has continued to work solidly as a presenter from his first day on set. He’s hosted a series of the internationally successful ‘Just for Laughs’, reported on the news based program ‘Brisbane Extra’, and has also lit up the screens as a presenter on the travel based ‘Saturday Afternoon’.

David’s corporate alignments are also extensive. He was engaged as the ‘Face of Sea World Australia’ and for the last three years, has joined the ranks of Qantas as co-host for their ‘Welcome Aboard Program’. Australian travel company Scenic Tours also saw the benefit of David fronting their brand, selecting him to produce and host two travel specials, which aired to over 4 million viewers.

2012 gave David the opportunity to get back to his first true love, wildlife. He is currently the Wildlife Expert for Channel Nine’s Mornings with Sonia Kruger and David Campbell. With his marine background, animal training expertise, and active and hands on attitude, it’s the perfect mix. David’s broad experience and knowledge of our planet’s incredible animals gives him access to extraordinary stories. He’s dedicated to bringing wildlife into our living rooms so we can all enjoy the wonders we have around us.

Not only has David worked as a successful face in front of the camera, he is also the director of Splash Multi Media, a production company set up by David to tackle a range of genres and projects. He has co-produced and presented Ocean Rescue, a look at the action ‘behind the scenes’ at Sea World Australia. Splash Multi Media is also developing Our Blue Backyard, a journey of discovery set to uncover our unique coastlines, threatened marine animals and the ‘blue heroes’ committed to protecting their very existence.

David Whitehill is not only a face to watch, he is a truly multi-talented personality in the media arena.
